Want to go fast in style?
This custom boat was started in our shop and is now being finished by its owner in his shop. The design brief from our client was to go as fast as possible with a single Diesel. The boat was to be as comfortable as is reasonable and seaworthy enough to run long distances offshore. Further, he wanted a stylish boat that would go faster than it looked.
Powering
We started of course with the powerplant, choosing the most powerful Volvo I/O made. We went with the I/O because they have the least underwater resistance and thus will be fastest for the horsepower, the very reason that they are chosen for offshore race boats. The Diesel adds reliability and range.
Hull
After choosing the powerplant, it was just a matter of putting it in the smallest hull that would provide the required strength, seakeeping, and accommodations. The boat has a nice cockpit for entertaining, an enclosed head, as well as sleeping and cooking facilities. We did extensive studies to optimize speed, comfort, and range.
Style
A traditional look, laid teak cockpit sole, and finest joinery sends the perfect message for this client. |
