Nexus Marine Corporation specializes in custom wooden boatbuilding. We are designers and builders of custom wood fishing boats, powerboats, motorboats, power yachts, luxury yachts, and WEST SYSTEM® epoxy sport fishing boats.

We build and design the finest wooden low maintenance powerboats and yachts, both plywood and cold-molded. Our boatbuilders employ the finest materials, the latest technology, and world-class craftsmanship. We have built exquisite small wood boats, fast commuters, trailerable sport fishing boats and weekenders, pilothouse cruisers, and an ocean crossing sailboat, ranging in size from 7' to 38'. We concentrate on wood epoxy monohulls: V-bottoms, round bottoms, and dories. While we are West Coast builders, we enjoy the East Coast aesthetic, and have built wooden boats for clients from Alaska to California to Long Island.

Besides the motorboats and motor yachts on which we have concentrated lately, we have built sailboats from day sailers to offshore auxiliaries. We have been custom building in wood in our waterfront shop since 1975.

Wood is a wonderful material for boatbuilding. Light, versatile, and fatigue resistant, it becomes very durable with the addition of epoxy resin glues and coatings. The construction for most of our power boats has been wood/epoxy laminate using WEST SYSTEM epoxy. Fast boats demand a well-supported skin. Nexus' proven stringer-frame system creates the lightest, strongest, and most durable boat.

We also offer full design services. Most of our custom boatbuilding projects were designed in-house. As designers as well as builders, we are able to efficiently integrate the design, engineering, and building functions. We start with your idea for that special boat. Through discussions and CAD (Computer Aided Design) iterations, that idea is made viable. You take an active role as the boat is built. Finally, launched down our marine ways, it becomes alive in the water. Our careful attention to engineering and use of CAD techniques insures that your boat will meet your expectations. We also build to the designs of others.

If you are looking for a plan so you can do your own wooden boatbuilding, we offer four boat plans for sale: the 16' San Juan Dory, our 21' Nexus Dory, an outboard powered version of the 27' St. Pierre Dory, and our beautiful V-bottom 23' Wooden Shoe. These are all fine vessels for amateur construction.

Our shop includes a repair bay, where we do repair and restoration. If you have a wooden boat that needs restoration or just repainting, we offer the same quality services that go into our new construction.
